The first facelift since 1980, the 1990 facelift, was necessitated by a redesigned Town Car from rival Lincoln. In the update Brougham received a new digital dash cluster inside, and composite headlamps, contemporary taillamp lenses, flush bumper moldings, and an optional Chevrolet 350 V8 and door-mounted automatic front seatbelts, as no driver’s side airbag was available, became standard ti meet federal standards for 1990.
