In June 2006, the German manufacturer officially announced production of the third generation Volkswagen Scirocco at the AutoEuropa assembly plant in Portugal. The new model went on sale in 2008 on the European market and arrived on other markets in early 2009. The third generation Scirocco won “Car of the Year 2008” from Top Gear Magazine.
