With a heavy redesign of the line, the second generation Volkswagen Scirocco appeared in 1981. Internally designated as Typ 53B it was a car designed by Volkswagen’s own internal design team. The new design featured increased front and rear headroom, increased luggage space and a reduction of the drag coefficient.
