The first generation C5 appeared in 2000. It was available as a five-door hatchback or five door estate styles only. Although, unlike its predecessors it was a hatchback with a three box design and a hatch actually disguising the hatch with this form, so Citroën had completely reversed the design philosophy from the fastback saloon era of Robert Opron.
