Cadillac DeVille 2000
The first major redesign since 1994 marked the start of the eight generation Cadillac DeVille with production starting in August 1999 as 2000 model year. Furthermore, this generation marked the move from the K platform to the G platform. The exterior was completely redesigned featuring a sportier, elegant and more aerodynamic design. The revamped interior featured completely new door panels and seats, while the dashboard and radio face only received minor facelifts. In 2006, the DeVille nameplate was replaced by Cadillac DTS, an abbreviation dating back to 1985, when a “DeVille Touring Sedan” package was available. The new name brought the DeVille into line with Cadillac‘s new nomenclature, which saw the Seville renamed to STS and the Catera replacement called the CTS.
