The facelift or the Life Cycle Impulse model of the E60 was released for the 2008 model year. Styling changes included revised headlights, tail lights and front bumper, but were relatively subtle. The interior was significantly revised. The iDrive system was upgraded with programmable “favourite” shortcut buttons (for late 2008 models), a revised menu system and the switch from DVD to hard disk based storage. Mechanically, it gained the new engines and transmissions from the E70 X5.
