The first generation Audi Q5 was unveiled in 2008 Beijing Auto Show, and later in 2008 LA Auto show. Audi was originally reported that it would offer Q5 hybrid as launch model, but it was later reported that the plan was suspended due to the unsatisfying crash test result for the nickel metal hydride batteries. Although, in 2009, Audi announced it would resume the Q5 hybrid development.
