In October 2007, the second generation Citroën C5 was officially unveiled. The new generation does not retain the hatchback body style, instead it is a regular, three box saloon of an aerodynamic shape. However, this generation is often criticised, especially by core Citroen fans, for its German like exterior design, since it makes it look more like a German saloon, than a French one.
