With changes in the automobile marketplace Chevrolet had to meet changing demands which resulted in the sixth generation Chevrolet Impala appearing in 1976. The new downsized Impalas were shorter, taller and narrower than before as the new Impala’s frame was a shortened version of the one introduced in 1970 and would be utilized until 1996 when the B-body production line was shut down.
